Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is a common circulation problem in which the arteries that carry blood to the legs or arms become narrowed or clogged. This interferes with the normal flow of blood, sometimes causing pain, but often causing no symptoms at all. The most common cause of PAD is atherosclerosis, often called "hardening of the arteries." In some cases, PAD may be caused by blood clots that lodge in the arteries and restrict blood flow. Left untreated, insufficient blood flow caused by PAD could lead to chronic skin breakdown and infections that may ultimately result in limb amputation in some patients.

He is a Board Certified Radiologist and was the recipient of the 2007 Radiological Society of North America Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award. Areas of interest include Uterine Fibroid Embolization, minimally invasive regional cancer therapy and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Dr. Laing, a native of Canada, immigrated to the US in 1997 and when not spending time with his wife and daughter enjoys hockey, skiing, golf and SCUBA.
