The Northern California Thoracic and Vascular Institute (NCTVI) is a medical group made up of vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists and neurointerventional radiologists. Our expert physicians and staff specialize in vascular and endovascular treatment options for patients with a range of vascular conditions. In partnering with Radiological Associates of Sacramento we are able to offer advanced diagnosis as well as the most comprehensive treatment planning services available in the greater Sacramento region. As our patient, you can be assured that you have received the best treatment.
Interventional radiology is the growing area of minimally invasive procedures performed using image guidance. Interventional Radiology procedures may be performed to diagnose or treat certain conditions. RAS interventional radiologists, nurses, physician assistants and staff have sub-specialty expertise and training and have been widely regarded as pioneers, responsible for introducing and furthering these minimally invasive options in our community. RAS’ team of Interventional Radiologists treat stroke victims, cancer patients, hemodialysis patients, individuals with arterial and venous disease, among others. As the list of treatable diseases and conditions continues to grow we continue to strive forward with our focus on innovation, increasing our service offerings for you, our patients.
RAS Neurointerventional Radiology (NIR) section utilizes cutting edge, minimally invasive surgical techniques to provide relief from pain as well as to correct life-threatening conditions for such things as stroke, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), compression fractures of the spine and tumors in the brain, neck and spine. RAS’ Neurointerventionalists offer an array of alternatives to traditional open - or invasive - surgery of the head, neck and spine. Because they involve small incisions, less risk, less pain and shorter recovery times than traditional open surgery, many patients find these treatments generally easier to tolerate. With neurointerventional surgery our physicians can reverse stroke symptoms when treated within 15 hours of the onset of a stroke as well as arterial stenosis in the arteries of the neck and brain.
The Neurointerventional Radiologists at RAS are sub-specialty trained, licensed medical doctors with board certification in diagnostic radiology. Each have advanced fellowship training in neurointerventional surgery, and all are members of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS).
RAS’ Vascular Surgeons joined the RAS medical group to provide integrated vascular care to the Greater Sacramento region. They are specially trained to treat disease and blockages of the arterial and venous system and work in tandem with RAS’ diagnostic physicians and interventionalists to provide customized treatment plans for their patients. Three of the most recognized vascular diseases treated by our physicians include: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) -- an enlargement or “bulge” that develops in a weakened area within the largest artery in the abdomen; Carotid Artery Disease and Stroke; and Peripheral Arterial Disease -- pain or aching in the legs associated with obstructed and limited blood flow to the legs.
Vein Surgery and Treatment Center of Northern California brings expertise in evaluating and managing vein problems to the Sacramento region. While not usually a life-threatening problem, chronic vein disease can cause discomfort, pain, swelling, and non-healing wounds of the leg. Often, patients with varicose veins are told that it is a cosmetic problem and not to worry about it. This may result it in more advanced problems of vein disease. At RAS, we have made great advances in the treatment of vein disease with better diagnostics, more effective solutions and minimally invasive treatment. RAS' Vein Surgery and Treatment Center is committed to participation in educating the public and area physicians, about vein disease.
